This set of two-sided graphic explorations were designed around a collection of QSL cards from the Providence Public Library’s special collections. These cards focument first contact between HAM radio operators, representing a physical and deeply human manifestation of a technological connection.
The front of each card is a diagram of the radio frequency spectrum documented by the FCC, with the bands occupied by amateur radio in green. The backs of the cards pull the collection apart, inspired by Aristotle’s ten categories.
Arranged as one, the fronts form one continuous frequency chart, and the backs form a sine wave where their backgrounds meet. They are stored in an acrylic case designed to resemble an oscilloscope.
